The Moose Legion Train was on the move and because
of you, we invited (80) our Moose brothers to climb aboard and ask our
former members to get back on. This gave us an excellent opportunity to
make our membership quota of (73). We can do the same or better this
upcoming year. Our membership Quota is only (53) but I feel we will go
way beyond that. At our last Board meeting, we pass out a list to each
lodge listing moose brothers for that lodge that is eligible to become a
Moose Legionnaire. We have (412) Moose Brothers who we need to ask to
join us. Your tools are there all you need to do is work the program.
This past
April Celebration we began what we will be an on going annual
celebration. We had a cookout with Blue Ridge Moose Legion supplying the
meats and one side and other lodges providing other sides and desserts.
Everyone had a great time and there was plenty to eat Please support all
fund raising events for the Conferral Staff.

My fellow Moose Legionnaires Brothers,
As being your new President of Blue Ridge
Moose Legion #82, I would like to say that we are #1 in meeting our
obligations in the past and hope to continue to do so in th e future. All
of our Legion Chairmen and Legion Secretaries work hard to keep the
Moose Legion active. These positions are voluntary and these Moose
Legionnaires really need support from the various Lodges in our
jurisdiction. It is so important that our Moose Legion in Blue Ridge #82
continue to be strong, so that all of our Lodges may benefit from the
actions of the Moose Legion activities. Our Moose Legionnaires may
become our future Board of Officers for their respective Lodges.
Their leadership will increase the
LOOM goals for future growth and prosperity. Therefore, my Brothers, it
is extremely important that we sign up Moose members that are qualified
to become Moose Legionnaires, so that we may continue to support
Mooseheart/Moosehaven and any other entities that Moose International
relies on us to achieve.
Fraternally yours,
Jack Lancaster

It
is that time of year again with vacations and cookouts. It is also that
time of year that your conferral staff has its annual fundraiser. This
year our cash drawdown will be held following the July celebration at
Moose Lodge 1727 in Lynchburg. There are only 150 tickets available and
they are $50 each. Each ticket entitles you and one other person to food
and libations. I have given out some of the tickets to various lodges in
our legion. This year’s drawdown promises to be a really fun time for
all. THANK YOU FOR YOUR
SUPPORT!

Fraternally,
Don Harris

Gentlemen,
As you know from the information that has been sent to you earlier in
the spring, it is that time of the year when all Blue Ridge Moose
Legions and fellow Moose Legionnaires get together to support our
Special Olympics project through our annual Open Golf Tournament. As
always it is at Ivy Hills Golf Club and will be supported by Major
League Baseball Alumni and several of their members. The Silent Auction
will again be at the pavilion along with a very good lunch. The pool and
other facilities will be open of the players families to enjoy while you
are out on the course.
We need your support. Attached is a copy of the flyer (front and rear)
along with a sponsorship form. Please help us help others.
Fraternally yours.

Special Olympics and
the Virginia Moose Association
" Continuing the Tradition " |
 |
|
Special Olympics is a year-round program of sports
and training and athletic competition for children and adults with
intellectual disabilities. The program, however, is about more than
sports. At the heart of Special Olympics lies a prototype for
transforming our communities.
The partnership between the Virginia Moose Association and Special
Olympics began over seventeen years ago. The first games had five or six
teams playing behind the Bedford Moose Lodge #1897. The event has grown
to accommodate thirty plus teams on eight fields located throughout the
city and county of Bedford. Not only do teams travel to compete, but
also ASA certified umpires travel from Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, and
Virginia to be part of this special weekend. The Virginia Moose
Association along with the Blue Ridge Moose Legion generously provides
housing, meals, and the complete weekend for all these outstanding young
adults. We celebrate on Saturday night with Opening Ceremonies on the
field culminating with a fabulous display of fireworks and dance.
The planning and hard work by local members of the Loyal Order of
Moose and Moose Intl. along with Special Olympics of Virginia and the
American Softball Association has made this small tournament, with the
development of regional and area tournaments, into a national
tournament. The culmination of which is to be held at Mooseheart, our
Child City. |
