     You are hereby notified that the annual meeting of the Nominating Committee of the Corporation will be held February 18, 2012, at 10:00 AM at the Doubletree Hotel, Virginia Beach, Virginia at the Winter Celebration.

     The purpose of this meeting is to consider all eligible members who have submitted a request to be considered and nominate one (1) or more candidates for each office to be filled.

     Directly after the Nominating Committee meeting, we will meet for the purpose to plan for the upcoming celebrations for the year 2013 starting in June and ending April, 2014.  You will need to have your newsletter article ready at this time.  If you have applications to turn in, please do so as soon as possible.  Also remember to turn in your endowment fund that has been collected during any Moose Legion function held at your lodge.  We will conduct any business as may be properly brought before the meeting.

Brother Moose Legionnaires:

     I hope you all survived the holidays.  Now it's a New Year and time to get back to work.  We have made some small gains in membership in the last quarter.  Let's keep up the good work.  Brother Ike and Brother Lee Richardson are running neck-and-neck in recruiting new members.  It's not too late to give them some competition for the $500 prize.

     Don't forget our Winter Celebration is almost here. Plan to join us in Virginia Beach for a weekend of fun.  Let's make this year as big a success as past years have been.  Also keep in mind that if you plan to run for office, there will be a leadership class at this celebration.  This training is mandatory for all officers every two years, and prior to running for office.

     Participation -- this is the life blood of all fraternal organizations.  As many lodges are finding out, they can't survive on dues alone.  Participate -- go to lodge functions -- they are put on for you to enjoy.  I can't count the times while selling a raffle or 50/50 ticket that I hear "I never win" -- no sale. I know it's nice to win once in awhile, but the idea is to support your lodge and keep the doors open. PARTICIPATE!!

    I am hoping everyone had a very Merry Christmas and will have a very Happy New Year.  With the New Year started I know everyone is looking forward to the Winter Celebration in February in Virginia Beach.  I would like to bring to everyone's attention that six months of the Moose year has passed and our membership numbers are way below expectations.  Brothers, we need members. Please work your eligibility and expired lists that Ike has sent you.  You will find that some of these Brothers are unaware that they are no longer Moose Legion members because of a lapse in dues for one reason or another.  Help a Brother out and keep him in Moose Legion #199.

     Talk up the Moose Legion in your Social Quarters and in your membership meetings.  Invite people you know who are not Moose Legionnaires into your Moose Legion meeting and let them see for themselves what they are missing.  And remember Brothers, by you signing up two Moose
Legionnaires before April 30th, you will receive one year's paid Moose Legion dues from Moose International.  Not only that, but your name will also go into the hat to possibly win $25 CASH during our Moose Legion Conferrals held every other month.

     I will be looking forward to seeing each and every one of you at our Winter Celebration.  And remember, do something for someone each day.

Brother Moose Legionnaires,

     The Moose Legion #199 Board of Directors and Assistant Secretaries are pleased to announce a new membership program and we are continuing the sponsorship drawing in addition to the Moose Legion's International Membership Campaign.

     For those who are unfamiliar with the sponsorship drawing, here are the rules.  Each time a Moose Legionnaire sponsors a new Moose Legionnaire since the last meeting, you will have your name placed in the bag and have a chance at winning $25.00.  This sponsorship drawing will continue through the end of this Moose year.  This is a great program for sponsors, and now we have one for the new prospective Moose Legionnaires.

     Until December 31, 2011, Moose Legion #199 will pay the $10.00 application fee for new members.  Therefore, until the December 31st deadline a prospective Moose Legionnaire will only pay $15.00 to become a Moose Legionnaire!  This is a 40 percent savings and a great incentive for someone to join our Higher Degree.

     The Moose Legion International Membership Campaign is the same as last year's campaign.  For every two Moose Legionnaires you sign up you will receive one year's Moose Legion dues paid by Moose Legion International.

     So Moose Legionnaires, you now have three great incentives to "Create Some Interest" and increase our numbers!

     Winter Celebration 2012 is just around the corner.  Talk it up with your brother Moose Legionnaires and let's see if we can't beat last year's record.  This is a new hotel for us and it has 292 rooms.  Let's see if we can fill it!

     PRE-REGISTRATION! Moose Legionnaires, everyone ask to pre-register when you are sending your reservations for the Winter Celebration and Conferral.  On your reservation form there is a place for you to pre-register.  It will be $5.00 per person.  So just add it to your reservation form. it will be $10 dollars at the door so please pre-register and save money and time. Also, the Assistant Secretaries can collect the pre-registration fees and submit them to Wally Johnson or me.

     All room reservations MUST come through the Housing Chairman.  The HOTEL WILL NOT accept any reservations being called or mailed to them.  So please send your reservations to me:

     If you want to be in a group, talk to your Moose Legion Assistant Secretary of your lodge and get the reservation forms for the Doubletree Hotel and send them all together and the Doubletree personnel will try to keep you all together.

     There are eight hospitality rooms, and all of them will be on the second floor of the hotel.  The hotel is a smoke-free hotel.  They do have smoking your private rooms on the 4th and 7th floors.  If you want a smoking room you must request it.

     When you use your credit card (I know this has never been done before, but it is on the reservation sheet) they are taking out the first night. So please check your bank or credit card statements when you receive them.
